Absolutely terrible experience. Zero information provided about how to use the vehicle and camping equipment on pick up. Petrol tank empty on pick up. Multiple broken items (eg only 3 of 4 chairs worked, fridge broke after one day, zippers and canvas of tents broken). Petrol cap broke and fell off. A bond was taken out of our account using a different company name and without any consultation. Took months for the bond be returned and only after threatening legal action. Never use this company.
Scammers operating from overseas. Campervan was not ready on agreed time, didn't even bother to call us. The provided car was then filthy, mouldy and unroadworthy, roadside service non-existent. Replacement vehicle had engine issues making it barely roadworthy. Went to VISA arbitration with them to get a compensation. NEVER AGAIN.
Booked 3 months in advance a van for 10 days from Airlie beach to Cairns, sent full payment upon reservation, had received a confirmation email to check in a week prior for then rocking up on arrival day to the agency whose said they didn't have a van and so had to book in for another company!!! They even didn't compensate anything for my 1st night of stay in Airlie beach, and I had to pay full amount with the other company whilst the refund from wicked campers took 2 whole weeks to come through. Never again...
-Smelt like petrol when driving -Explicit graffiti in interior of van -Thin mattresses -Photos not the same as what we got -$929 for 4 days - had to pay for 5 as minimum -outside scratched, dented and faulty left indicator light -pack your own bedding and pillows -some shops shut early so be prepared - especially if it’s cold -cockroaches in our van It got us from A-B but we ended up staying in accomodation because the mattresses where too thin and it was cold About the only good thing was novelty of mystery machine and that... read more
Booked the Scooby van months in advance as a present for my Scooby loving boyfriend, only to fly three hours, arrive to pick it up and be told they had changed the van to a plain white one. When I complained I was told it is their right to change the van and it was likely the last person had chosen to extend their hire. I questioned this as surely if the van is already prebooked the person has to return it. They said that was not how they worked. Our car broke down in the middle of nowhere in Western Australia and Wicked simply left us (a family with 3 small kids) stranded and did not provide any help. The customer service doesn't deserve the name and simply does not answer to emails - a phone number is not available. It was totally chaotic. Roadside assistance left us with a rude "it is Saturday, there is nothing we can do until Monday" and on Monday their advice was "take the broken, unsafe car and drive to our agent in Exmouth and camp on their parking area". Vehicle KPR790 was not ready until 2 hours after its scheduled pickup time in Christchurch Vehicle KPR790 self contained vehicle cert was out of date. My partner and I recently hired a Wicked campervan for 6 nights in Tasmania (Mystery Machine). I will start off by saying that the vehicle was mechanically sound and got us where we needed to go. That is the only nice thing I can say. In retrospect, it was a classic case of “you get what you paid for”… which is not very much. - At pickup, the vehicle exterior was very dirty, dented and scratched.
