Did the mechanic working on it ,come from Sandgate auto electrics and A/C because he uses their lingo.Also he said the new hose needed protection and installed an old piece of radiator hose about 100mm long on it,surely he has heard of AC foam insulation.

Thank you for your reply John. To your first question, no we have no staff here from neighbouring workshops. Secondly we have heard of foam insulation and as we were out of stock we used some hose as an additional barrier. As we had repositioned the hose it should not be an issue and the additional layer was a little bit of insurance to ensure the new hose we installed did not suffer the same failure as the original.
