We hired the Desert Sands 4WD from Wicked Campers in Cairns for a trip through Far North Queensland, driving all the way up to Weipa and tackling the Bloomfield Track from just north of Cape Tribulation through to Cooktown. The vehicle was fantastic. Mechanically, it was very reliable throughout the trip, easy to drive and clearly well maintained. If youre looking for a reliable and affordable campervan, this is the company to go for. We hired the Johnny Feelgood as it had a fridge, and we had no issues with it. Drove the van across the Daintree, and it was such an easy vehicle to drive despite the winding narrow roads. While mattress can be better, it did the job. The van did have a bright led light at the back, but it is worth bringing a portable one for the inside (we left the one we bought for the next person). We rented a mystery machine for a week and unfortunately had a few hiccups before we could enjoy the trip. We did not receive any information about our after hours pick up, but after a phone call, we were able to access the really run down vehicle. Massive crack in the windscreen, awful smell in the car and rusty/dirty kitchen utensils beyond usability. It also turned out, that the speedometer wasn't working. I recently hired the Desert Sand 4x4 with my uncle for a bush adventure around the Cairns region, and it exceeded all expectations. The vehicle was in excellent condition—reliable, clean, and ready for the off-road! Very good value for money ! Car was exactly as expected and perfect for a 2 week trip from Cairns to Brisbane. Also the support team is fast to answer any questions which is a nice support.
