We decided to get the course menu that included appetisers, a pizza (Margherita), sides and a pasta. the pizza dough was wood fired and crispy and chewy and ingredients were fresh! The pasta (ragu) was handmade and delicious as well. The appetisers (focaccia, burrata and a variety of meats) were very filling but did not leave as much of an impression as the mains did. The food here was average and nothing special, but the service was the real letdown. The wait times were excessive—it took an hour just to receive cold starters (pickles, mortadella, and dips), and confusingly, the pizza arrived before the starters did. It took over two hours for the main course (roast chicken and potatoes) to arrive. The kitchen moves at the pace of a 12-course fine dining degustation, which is a hilarious level of confidence for a place serving average pizza and pasta. We had a really lovely lunch at Frankie today. From when we arrived staff were very attentive and checked in on us as we ate. We were blown away by both the quality and quantity of food for the price - by far one of the best value meals we have had on a set menu for a long time. I am currently pregnant and the alternative options given to me in place of things I couldn’t eat were far better than the afterthought substitutions I have received in set menus over the last few months. A wonderful experience from start to finish! Super attentive (knowledgeable, personable and funny!) staff, delicious seasonal meals, wine tasting options and fabulous atmosphere. Truly a 'luxe' experience but great value meal options with us choosing the $70 'side, pizza, pasta and main' but next time probably the one without the main as we were very full but the end of the pasta - but sometimes as 'foodies' you just have to experience all the flavours and enjoy! We loved Frankie, the food was fresh, plentiful and delicious. The staff were fantastic and very accommodating. We will definitely be back. The only thing we didn’t know is that it is outdoor and open to the air. It was very cold on the day we went and we didn’t have warm enough jackets. The staff were wonderful though and moved us to a warmer more sheltered table, which we were very thankful for. A fantastic place for drinks and lunch.
