My mother has been at Estia Kangaroo Flat, for the past 2 years. Over that time I have found all the staff, to be extremely friendly and supportive, to my mum and to myself. The care given to mum, by the carers has been wonderful and I can see she is very comfortable with each and every one of them. Admin, cleaning, lifestyle, cafe, kitchen and laundry staff have also been wonderful and I feel safe in the knowledge knowing that she is being well cared for especially at times when things can be tough on everyone. My husband with dementia entered Estia Kangaroo Flat four months ago and I am comforted knowing he is being cared for with compassion and understanding of his condition. The rapport between staff and residents is obvious and there is a very strong community spirit. The facility is clean and the meals are tasty and cooked on site. Unbelievably terrible management and mistreatment of their staff and residents. Genuinely concerned for all who live here, I wouldn't wish it on anyone I cared about.
I had my father in this facility. The care staff where decent people but senior management are a disgrace. At the end of my fathers respite period senior management tried to refuse my removing my father despite me having power of attorney for financial and health matters. They called the police as we left, then refused to give me access to his personal effects and more importantly his everyday medication. My fathers doctor who was seeing my father in the home was happy to give me repeats on all the medications he needed and... read more
