I believe it is crucial for doctors to have a good bedside manner, especially when delivering life-changing news. I was really disappointed with my recent appointment. I had to question the doctor on several points that were not explained properly. The appointment ended with a reminder to check out with the receptionist for additional costs because it had run longer than the standard allocated time. I found this experience completely unacceptable, particularly since I work for the Department of Health.
My wife brought my babies for a consultation due to their prolonged coughing and Dr Thanuja Perera attended to them. She did checked on them but her focus was more to their skin care rather than the cough which we are more concerned. She advised to wait for another two weeks even after we told her that they had been coughing for nearly 2 months. It's ridiculous how a priority care clinic can have a booking system and expect to still cater for the urgent walk ins. What's the point of coming in here with your baby or child when they are waiting .. they may as well make a gp appointment. it's being run like a standard clinic with the additional pressure of a priority clinic. Also how's it possible that only 1 doctor and 1 nurse operates the priority care clinic. The unprofessionalism and bullying I witnessed today from Dr Areej Al-Jawazery was terrible. The nurse Amrit was spoken to appallingly by this doctor in front of myself and my 13 year old daughter (who was the patient). Poor Amrit was belittled and embarrassed and told “You are only the nurse, I am the doctor, you follow my instructions” (there were no instructions given on how to dress this particular wound) Absolutely disgusting behavior. Will not see this doctor again!!
Tonight I had worst experience ever with this centre. I booked an appointment for 6.10pm and went there 15 minutes earlier and found out that doctor is running 1 hour behind and nobody called me to inform that I need to wait for 1 hour. I sat down with my 4 years old son who had a high temperature to wait and I saw that in 1 session 6 people went in to the doctors room( and usually 10 min session per person).
