Went to deer duck bistro to dinner for the first time in close to 2 years and from the first dish I was planning my next visit. Starting with a special beef carpaccio with a yuzu gel and Japanese Mayo, the dish as a whole was sublime and hope to have that dish again in the near future. Deer Duck Bistro is a bit of a jaunt from the CBD, but well worth the trip. Don’t be surprised by the seemingly abandoned block with a Thai restaurant at the end, look for the painting of the woman in an elegant dress from yesteryear, which is the main entrance. Check in is at the bar, and we were escorted through the maze to a smaller dining room past the kitchen. What a spellbinding experience! I was transported to another world and revelled in every moment. The short course (7 courses) was one of the best executed meals I've had. PERIOD! They are deserving of all the praise and more. My wife and I combined the celebration of our anniversary and my birthday. I will be remembering the scallops for a long time to come. I know it's taboo, but we had to lick the plates clean. The wine recommendation from Emmy was devine. Give yourself a night to remember. We'll be back.
